45,033 gambling employs in Macau
The Macau gaming and gambling industry at the end of June employed a total of 45,033 people, a year on year rise of 50.1 percent, the regions Statistics and Census Bureau said Monday in Macau. The Bureau said the growth was due to successive openings of large new gaming venues starting in the second half of 2006. In June 2007 the average salary of full-time workers (excluding bonuses and profit sharing) for the lotteries and other betting games, was 14,491 patacas, And had risen 14.9 percent against June 2006. The average salary by profession, of workers directly linked to gaming and gambling rose 13.5 percent against June 2006, totaling 14,898 patacas. The average salary of *service personnel -Â salespeople and similar workers,* rose 8.8 percent against June 2006, to 7,997 patacas. 
At the end of June the gaming industry in Macau had 5,112 positions to fill, or 587 fewer than a year previously. Macau has 27 casinos, 18 of which are managed by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, a company owned by Macau business magnate Stanley Ho.
