Day 1 of $1 Million Guaranteed OSS II Sees Over $236,000 Paid Out | IXGAMES

(Press Release) San Jose, Costa Rica – January 14, 2013 – If Day 1 of Americas Cardroom’s OSS II series is any indication, the $1 million Guaranteed online poker series will see its total prize pool surpass the $1 million prize mark well before the 2-week series has wrapped. On Sunday, the first day of the online poker tournament series, a total of $236,850 in prize money was paid out through seven online poker events. The number eclipsed the $205,000 in money that had been guaranteed. “We’re only into our second day of the Online Super Series and we’ve already paid out more than what we guaranteed in the very first series back in 2011,” said Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. “This is an amazing start to 2013 for Americas Cardroom players and we can’t wait to reward a record number of tournament players over the next two weeks.” The seven events saw 5,990 collective entries, and every single event featured a final prize pool bigger than what had been guaranteed. Event #4, the $100,000 Guaranteed tournament, saw its prize pool of $100,000 jump to $110,000 as 550 buy-ins pushed the total prize pool higher. SugarSprinkledWalrus took down the tournament, winning the first place prize of $21,450. But it wasn’t just the large events that attracted a record number of players. Event #2, a $5,000 Guaranteed tournament, saw its prize pool almost double to $9,370 as 937 buy-ins contributed to the prize pool. OSS II is Americas Cardroom’s signature online poker series. The $1 million guaranteed Online Super Series features 82 events spread out over two weeks. The series will culminate in a $200,000 guaranteed tournament, with $75k, $100k, and $150k tournaments thrown into the mix, too. OSS II also includes leaderboard competitions with extra prizes on the line for the top performers in the series. The online poker tournament series runs from January 13th through January 27th, and low buy-in qualifiers are now running. OSS II resumes today at 7:00pm ET with a $10,000 Guaranteed event and a $20,000 Guaranteed at 9:00pm ET. The tournament costs $100+9 to get into and low buy-in qualifiers are now running for poker players who want to get into the tourney for less.
