Online Casinos Games Having a Positive Future in the US

The new Democratic leadership in the United States Congress could very well offer the chance to explore legislation of online gambling.

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was passed into law by President George W. Bush in October 2006. The act makes it illegal for credit card companies, banks, and online payment systems to process payments to online gambling companies.

CEO of MGM Mirage in Las Vegas, Terry Lanni, said that the bill “makes no sense whatsoever,” before adding that “the Republican party pandered to the religious right.”

Lanni also mentioned that MGM would like to see a study commissioned to examine whether online gambling can be successfully regulated in the United States.

Lanni is currently on the board of the American Gaming Association, and they are expected to decide in December whether to pursue a legislation study of online casino games.

They are planning on looking into the UK’s successful attempt to regulate online gambling, which will officially begin 2007.

Chairman of Britain’s Gaming Commission, and speaker for gaming conferences, Peter Dean, said, “Britain wants to be second to none in regulation of Internet gambling. We firmly believe that the way forward is to regulate, rather than prohibit!!
