Texas wants to try to legalize poker
Gambling is a hot topic throughout Texoma and now some legislators are getting in on the bids. At least one lawmaker in Austin wants to try to legalize poker in the Lonestar State. Representative Jose Menendez of San Antonio has a bill on the table that would allow businesses to host tournament style poker games for a fee. Poker players would also be allowed to operate electronic equipment If the pending bill becomes law. Poker tournaments would be allowed in public places and Menendez is anticipating a 150 million dollars in revenue would go to the state. Â it’s wide spread. It’s not like it’s being played anyway, not to mention that a lot of money leaves the state and goes to places like Louisiana, Oklahoma uhm that’s money we usually keep inside the state.” said Justin West, a poker enthusiast. The Texas Lottery Commission would be in charge of regulating the rules.
