Taiwan plans to open sports gambling
Taiwan plans to open sports gambling to stimulate economic development in central and southern Taiwan, Central News Agency (CNA) said on Thursday.The cabinet has instructed the Council on Physical Fitness and Sports to draft a special plan for opening sports gambling in the two regions, CNA quoted Chang Ching-sen, deputy director of the Council for Economic Planning and Development, as saying. The Council for Physical Fitness and Sports is expected to unveil the plan in June. After the plan has been approved by the cabinet, sports gambling can be introduced in central and south Taiwan. Chang said that the cabinet plans to introduce three kinds of sports gambling in central and south Taiwan – car racing, horse racing and another sports gamgling. Car racing could be first to be introduced because Taiwan does not need to change any law for it.
