Bill Submitted to Remove Online Gambling Ban
Legislation that would lift an online gambling ban imposed by Congress last year was introduced yesterday by the chair of U.S. House Financial Services Committee. Calling the Internet gambling prohibition “imprudently adopted,” Democratic congressman Barney Frank of Massachusetts submitted a bill to make it legal again for banks and credit card companies to submit payments to online gambling sites. The bill includes provisions for licensing and regulating online gambling companies to protect against underage gambling, compulsive gambling, money-laundering and fraud.
