Jennifer Tilly playing in World Series of Poker tournament 2007
Jennifer Tilly was born Jennifer Chan of mixed Caucasian and Chinese parents in Harbor City, California. The family later moved to British Columbia where Jennifer Tilly was raised and educated. After high school, Jennifer Tilly moved to Missouri and attended Stephens College. She pursued her interest in an acting career, starring in over 100 films, and winning a nomination for an Academy Award. During this time, however, for the next 15 years through the 1990’s, Jennifer Tilly continued to play poker with her friends in her spare time. Jennifer Tilly began to take a more serious interest in playing poker in 2003. In 2004, Jennifer Tilly appeared in a Celebrity Showdown televised on Bravo and shortly thereafter, the World Poker Tour invited Jennifer to play in the Hollywood Home Game. The next milestone in her road to fame as an outstanding professional poker player was in winning the World Poker Tour Ladies Night III tournament at the Bicycles Casino in California. Jennifer’s big moment in poker came in 2005 at the World Series of Poker tournament held at the Rio Casino Hotel Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. With an entry fee of $1,000, she entered the Ladies No Limit Texas Holdem event, along with 601 other players. After many hours of tough competition, Jennifer Tilly succeeded in winning the coveted championship. She took home the prize of $158,625 and the treasured gold bracelet, becoming the first celebrity to win a World Series of Poker championship. She has learned from her boyfriend poker player Phil Laak. With her enthusiasm and love of the poker game, it is certain that she will continue to play and win more poker tournaments in the future. Maybe already in the WSOP 2007.
