Absolute Poker reports six Bad Beat Jackpot wins
It’s been less than four weeks since Absolute Poker added Bad Beat Jackpot to its suite of games. But that hasn’t stopped the popular online poker room from doling out hundreds of thousands of dollars in jackpot prize money. “Since launching the game on June 22nd, the jackpot has been hit six times,” stated David Clainer, senior vice president for Absolute Poker. “People are winning insane amounts of money playing Bad Beat Poker and they’re doing it frequently.” Two major wins happened within eight days of one another. On July 3rd, the jackpot climbed to just a few digits short of $300,000. Then, on July 11th, the poker jackpot reached a record high of $464,652.03. On both occasions, the bad beat victim collected well over $100,000 for losing their hand. As of Wednesday afternoon, the current poker jackpot had reached over $175,000. Since $0.50 is collected from qualifying hands at Bad Beat Jackpot tables, the jackpot will continue to grow until someone hits a bad beat. That could come sooner than later. Absolute Poker reports increased frequency at its Bad Beat Jackpot tables with every dollar added to the pot. Since the jackpot will soon be into multiple six figures, there’s no telling how fast it will climb. If a poker player loses a hand holding four 8s or anything better at a Bad Beat Jackpot table, they’ll win a piece of the Bad Beat Jackpot. A percentage of the jackpot is shared amongst the players where the bad beat occurred and a fraction of the jackpot is placed back into the pot for the next jackpot.
