Bodog.com Relocates to Antigua, Ceases U.S. Gambling Ads | IXGAMES
Bodog.com Entertainment, a provider of online gambling and entertainment services, announced on Wednesday that it will pull all of its U.S. gaming-related advertising on TV, radio and print media, and relocate its global headquarters to the island nation of Antigua. “This accords our gaming division a license in a safe, reliable and well-regulated jurisdiction and Antigua is also the right jurisdiction from where to run our European expansion,” said Bodog.com founder Calvin Ayre. The company plans to shift its advertising focus for gambling to European and Asian markets. Bodog will continue to market its record label, TV production company and other non-gaming services in the U.S. “Though the online gaming environment in the U.S. seems to be headed down a path toward eventual regulation, the current climate calls for even more focus of our gaming-related advertising dollars into markets that face Europe and Asia,” added Ayre. Many online gambling firms have taken steps to shut off U.S. customers and cease U.S.-facing advertising following the arrests and indictments of several online gambling executives by federal authorities.
