Amanda Buckner steps into the Bodog Fight ring to face Hitomi Akano.
It isnt every day you meet your idol and punch them in the face. Akano is one of the toughest female fighters in Japan.  Shes a national Judo Champion, a member of the world famous Abe Ani Combat Club and a student of Megumi Fujii (10-0-0) the best pound for pound female fighter in the world.  With a hard-fought decision victory over Debi Purcell (4-1-0) and a tough decision loss to Tara Larosa (12-1) Hitomi has proven that she can hang with the best.  Now she faces her toughest opponent yet and a fighter she admits to idolizing, American she-gladiator Amanda Buckner. Fighting out of Poland, Maine, Buckner has been involved in various athletics her whole life and starred as point guard at the University of Maine at Farmington from 1994 to 1997.  Amanda began her martial arts career in 2001 and within six months was ranked among the top 10 in her weight class.  Now considered one of the top female MMA fighters in the world, Amanda enters the ring with a very aggressive ground and pound style. She holds wins over Julie Kedzie (6-6-0), Shayna Baszler (4-2-0) and Megumi Yabushita (11-9-0).
