Heat Lead Growing Pack of Eastern Conference Fringe Contenders

Six teams, from Charlotte to Indiana, are within two games of each other in the Eastern Conference, and they’ll be competing for the seventh and eighth playoff spots. Although the league has been unpredictable this season, plenty can be gleaned by taking a good look at the presiding NBA odds. The Heat is 150/1 to win the NBA Championship, and they fall within that two game range competing for the seventh and eighth playoff spots. Their meager 22-30 record doesn’t impress, but it’s still hard to overlook the star tandem of Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. Although the Heat is only 23-27-2 ATS this season, the team could prove to be an intriguing NBA betting option heading forward. With the emergence of young center Hassan Whiteside, and his 28.46 Player Efficiency Rating, this team could qualify as an overachieving underdog. It’s hard not to like Miami’s firepower heading into the final stretch of the season, but it’s important to consider how different their outlook is now than it was in November. They’re 50/1 to win the Eastern Conference.
