John Hennigan Wins WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open | IXGAMES
After almost thirty hands of heads-up play, The WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open came to a close as John Hennigan finally bested the field and sent Chuck Kelley home in second place. With the nickname, “Johnny World”, due to his propensity to bet on anything and everything, it came down to an easy bet on a sure thing river card after a misstep by Kelley. With a board showing 7s3d3sAh after the turn, Kelley, thinking the hand was over, turned over his cards to show Qh7h. The floor ruled that the hand was live and when the 3h came on the river, Hennigan put Kelley all in. Kelley, thinking that Hennigan was bluffing (again with the “thinking”) called, and Hennigan showed his threes full of aces boat to win the tournament and take home $1,606,223. Hennigan Said of the win, “Im shocked right now. Ive won a few poker tournaments in the past, and it usually doesnt sink in for the first few hours. Im just soaking it in. Two hours from now Ill be really excited.”
