Kobe Successfully Undergoes Knee Surgery | IXGAMES

After hyper-extending his knee during the exhibition game against the Charlotte Bobcats, Kobe Bryant was prepped and just came out of arthroscopic surgery successfully. The two time-NBA scoring champion did not play for the second half of the game. Lakers has announced later on that he will be having his knee re-examined, thereby not allowing him to play for the second half. Injury details The injury was obtained when Bryant jumped for a rebound during the first half, still three minutes and eight seconds shy of the end. Limping off the court, Coach Phil Jackson then called for a time out lasting twenty seconds. The arthroscopic surgery was then done just recently, a process which involves a type of endoscope that is inserted into the joint for examination and treatment. Bryant is currently undergoing rehabilitation for his knee, making him ready for training camp on September 25. By then, the basketball star is expected to be ready physically for the oncoming games. Bryant has been through several injuries while playing in June. Only last season, the MVP had doctors drain his knee to reduce its swelling. It has been determined that a surgery on one of Bryant’s fingers may also be needed. For Bryant fans, although it may sound complicated, the surgery is nothing but simple. In fact, Bryant even went to South Africa for the World Cup Football before undergoing the surgery. The hard part for the 31 year old player however, is the part wherein he’s not doing anything. “The hardest thing for me to do is to do nothing” he claimed during an interview of the China Daily Newspaper. Bryant claims that the body needs time to rest and heal. But being used to working and training, the player claims that doing nothing is the best but hardest part of his training for next season. Bryant’s plans after playing as a pro Bryant has already undergone three knee surgeries, the previous two being on 2003 and 2006. However, he claims that this will not deter him from his sixth NBA title bid with the Lakers. “Another NBA championship ring next season is the biggest motivation for me,” he told the paper. When asked what he wanted to do after retirement, Bryant lets on that he has no intentions of becoming a coach, stating the activity would be too frustrating for him. On his 5-city tour of China, Bryant is set to meet thousands of his fans waiting for just a glimpse of the MVP.
