Mariners and Cubs Make the Most Happening Deal Happen

During the off-season, member teams of the Major League Baseball engage in activities that require the most money – exchanging and trading players. There were exciting developments that happened over the last few days. The Seattle Mariners pulled off a player trade that has been wrapped in intrigue.  The trade was concluded still with a lot of questions left unanswered. Chicago Cubs gave up Bradley to the Seattle Mariners The Chicago Cubs gave up their unpredictable outfielder Milton Bradley, while the Mariners had to exchange Carlos Silva with a neat sum of cash.   Of course, the players did get a good deal, securing for themselves contracts with loaded salaries.  Seattle is hoping to get the same performance that Bradley has been known for in his 10-year old career that has had its ups and downs.  The Mariners, however, do not wish to experience the flare-ups and temper tantrums that their newly- acquired player is also known for. For his part, Bradley has been quoted by the press as being excited with the new start that he will be getting from the Seattle Mariners.  He believes that he was traded because Seattle wants to have a winning baseball team, which should be positive.   This was seconded by Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik, who said that Bradley would be a great fit for his team. Apparently, the team has good reasons for acquiring Bradley.  Bradley was the leader of the American League in on-base percentage just a few years ago and he is one of the competitive players on the field. Although he has the competitive spirit, Bradley also has problems with his temper and relationship with his former teams.  In fact, he got suspended by his former team, the Chicago Cubs, for the season’s last 15 games. He was quoted as saying that his team, the Cubs, does not have a positive environment, which is why they have not won in a century.  Bradley obviously had trouble with his former team’s managers and some of the staff.  Before that, Bradley also had a run-in with Kansas City Royals television announcer Ryan Lefebvre when he was still with the Texas Rangers.  He heard comments about him that he considered to be derogatory. This was after he was compared with Josh Hamilton. Bradley was about to head to where Lefebvre was, but he was stopped by Rangers manager Ron Washington.  He then broke down after he almost confronted Lefebvre. The exchange with Carlos Silva With Carlos Silva, Seattle has not been satisfied with his performance at all.  His 2008 statistics were not that impressive and his 2009 career was plagued with injury.  For the deal, the Mariners will be sending an additional $9 million to the Cubs, with Silva to finish the exchange.
