When Baltimore leapt out in front of their division earlier this summer, it was never quite certain where they would fall on the MLB odds. Now as the postseason nears, that uncertainty makes them one of the most intriguing choices on the moneyline. Though lengths behind the New York Yankees in the AL East, the Orioles are well within reach of one of the American League’s two wild card berths. Unfortunately they’re among five contenders – the Tigers included – who find themselves in similar positions. As the regular season fades into the dog days of summer, all eyes will be on which of the potential playoff teams can hold on down the stretch. It’s been 14 years since Baltimore made the playoffs, and bettors are reasonably reluctant to make that commitment.
