NBA: Phoenix Suns Visit the Miami Heat

The Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat battled it out on November 3rd, featuring an impressive performance by all-stars on both sides of the ball.  Coming into the game, both the Suns and the Heat were undefeated with records of 3-0, so the match was more than just another basketball game as both teams fended to keep their perfect record.  All good things must come to an end, though.  Read on for a recap of the game and a look at the standings of both the Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat. Recap of the Phoenix Suns vs. the Miami Heat When the Phoenix Suns flew over to the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida, they knew they had their work cut out for them.  The Miami Heat has a strong ball club and great support from their hometown fans, not to mention their do-it-all superstar Dwayne “The Flash” Wade.  Despite their hometown advantage, though, the Heat also had a difficult task facing the Suns and their two all-stars, Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire. In the first quarter, the Heat came off to a good start, outscoring the Suns 26 to 23.  Miami continued to show their prowess in the second quarter, scoring 26 points again and holding the Suns to only 21 points.  At the end of the first half, the Heat were up by eight with a score of 52 versus the Suns’ 44.  In the third quarter, both teams would peak offensively and the Suns were finally able to outscore the Heat by a small margin of two, with the Suns scoring 31 and the Heat only 29.  It would be in the fourth quarter that the tides would really start to turn as the Phoenix Suns played relentless defense, holding the Heat to only 15 points while scoring 29 points of their own to come away with the victory.  The game ended with a final score of 104-96 in favor of the Suns, who were able to keep their perfect record spotless with 4 wins and 0 losses, while the Heat fell to 3 wins and 1 loss. Team standings The Suns and the Heat are both formidable teams that have performed well throughout the past few seasons.  With the 2009-2010 season starting to pick up both of these teams are showing that they can make a strong run for the Playoffs.  In the Southeast Division, the Miami Heat are currently tied with the Orlando Magic  for first place with both teams holding 3-1 records.  In the Pacific Division, the Phoenix Suns are in first place with their spotless 4-1 record.  In the Eastern Division, the Boston Celtics are in first place, with the Heat and the Magic following close behind.  While in the Western Division, the Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns are currently tied for first place.
