NBA Power Rankings After Week 2 | IXGAMES

Now that all of the NBA teams have played about six or seven games, it’s pretty safe to say that the 2009-2010 NBA Season is now in full swing.  Although teams are still trying to work out some of the kinks in their game, we’re now at the segment of the season when you can really start analyzing how well these teams are playing.  With all of the player acquisitions, trades, and moves, many of the teams are still trying to build chemistry, but now is the time that they have to start playing together as the season goes into the long winter stretch.  After the first week of the NBA season, the top four teams were the Boston Celtics, the Orlando Magic, the Denver Nuggets, and the L.A. Lakers.  Let’s take a look at the top four teams in the second week power rankings: 4.  Miami Heat In fourth place are the Miami Heat, who improved from fifth place in the first week of power rankings.  The Heat have a record of 5-1, which is a great record for a team that is still trying to find some chemistry and consistency.  Although the Heat rank 15th in the league in offense, they are ranked fifth overall in defense.  Their improved defense, along with the fact that Dwayne Wade had a little help on the offensive end, means that Miami may be able to improve their record last season. 3.  Los Angeles Lakers From fourth place last week to third place this week, it may be a surprise to some that the L.A. Lakers have been able to improve on the power ranking poll.  With Pau Gasol still recovering from his pre-season injury and Bynum missing the last two games, the Lakers was still able to improve from 2-1 in the first week to their current record of 6-1.  Although the team only places 14th in offense and 10th in defense, they are still able to do a great job with their superstar Kobe Bryant and his new teammate Ron Artest. 2.  Boston Celtics The Boston Celtics fell from their first place rank in week one to second place after the second week.  Although they have a strong record of 7-1, unfortunately, some of these wins took a lot more work than they should have exerted.  The Celtics rank second in the league in defense and tenth in offense, making them a strong force to be reckoned with. 1.  Phoenix Suns Climbing all the way from seventh place in the first week to first place in the second week power rankings, the Phoenix Suns are on a tier.  Ranking fifth in offense and fifteenth in defense, the Suns are a solid team with one of the fastest-paced games in the league.  While some doubted the success of the Suns, their strong start for the season proves that this team can be a championship contender.
