NFL's CB Williams Returns for Mini-camp Training | IXGAMES
After a last minute agreement regarding his restricted free agent contract, Tramon Williams was able to return just in time to join the mandatory mini-camp training with his fellow Green Bay Packers. According to Packers coach Mike McCarthy, this was definitely good news because he was worried about Al Harris’ injury on the left knee. Al Harris is a veteran NFL player who serves as a cornerback for the Green Bay Packers. McCarthy has stated that Harris may not be able to fully recover from the injury in time for the training camp. Williams is a highly regarded player by the Green Bay Packers for his skill and talent. Aside from Williams, the Packers don’t have much experience behind Charles Woodson and veteran NFL player Al Harris. The Packers’ front office was indeed very happy that Williams accepted a one-year contract instead of forcing the team to come up with a longer contract deal and just sit it out while waiting for better contract terms. Williams stated that “You know, it’s just one of those deals where you come in and you do what you can on the things you can control..” According to him, the only thing that he can control right now is being accountable and being there for his teammates. Coach McCarthy claimed that Williams reported back for training in “excellent shape,” and that he doesn’t expect Williams to take more time in “knocking the rust off.” He also said that he has personally enjoyed watching Williams grow as a promising NFL player, and that Williams has a very bright future as a professional NFL player. Details of Williams’ one-year contract By agreeing to the one-year contract, Williams will earn more than $3 million during the current NFL season. If Williams wasn’t able to meet the deadline for the contract signing, the team might have reduced the offer to a mere $580,000, approximately speaking. And although Williams is getting a nice raise this current season, he isn’t backed by a long-term contract. Despite this, Williams is willing to take the risk and do what he loves to do, which is to play football. Williams also stated that sitting out during the team’s voluntary training and workout sessions was a good opportunity for him to take care of his wife, who had a difficult time during pregnancy. While away from his fellow Green Bay Packers, Williams made sure that he wasn’t left behind by hiring a trainer. Now that he has signed a new contract with the Green Bay Packers, Williams is ready to give and do his best as an NFL pro. Williams as temporary replacement for Al Harris Veteran Al Harris injured his knee during a game against San Francisco. Because of this, Williams was chosen to replace Harris as the team’s cornerback. Coach McCarthy has stated that Harris might not be able to make it into the camp training. Harris didn’t refute this but he was determined to make it into the regular game for the season opener.
