Oilers Beat Sharks 5-1, 27 Saves by Devan Dubnyk | IXGAMES

The Edmonton Oilers crushed the San Jose Sharks, 5-1 during last Sunday’s game. Devan Dubnyk of Edmonton Oilers finished with 27 saves, earning him his second career NHL win. Excellent win by the Edmonton Oilers The Edmonton Oilers, who have had less than stellar performances in recent games, scored their second victory consecutively, after emerging victorious over Detroit on a Friday game. Aaron Johnson, Dustin Penner, Robert Nilsson, Shawn Horcoff, and Fernando Pisani scored the goals for the game. The single goal for the Sharks was secured by Ryan Clowe at 43-19-10, with the Sharks achieving 0-5-1 during their previous six games. The early pressure was contained by San Jose, with a shot by Joe Pavelski hitting the crossbar following Devan Dubnyk. Nonetheless, Edmonton struck first at 11:10, and with Nilsson prodding the puck farther from Joe Thornton, he was able to make a go at mid ice and make a good move on Evgeni Nabokov. He scored his 10th point and made it 1-0 in favor of the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton and San Jose score in the game After a minute, Edmonton was able to make a two-goal game with a rebound shot by Ryan Potulny, which collided off of a defender from the Sharks, allowing Penner to make a home shot for his 100th career goal in NHL. With just two minutes remaining, the San Jose Sharks was able to cut into the lead through a remarkable chance as Dany Heatley found an easy lane toward the net.  However, he could not slide beneath a jostling Devan Dubnyk to achieve a 2-0 after a span of 20 minutes. In the second period, the Oilers scored 3-0 midway through.  Tom Gilbert was spotted by Shawn Horcoff in the slot, and Fernando Pisani was able to score home the rebound, although Evgeni Nabokov made a glove except on that particular shot. With just seven minutes left in the third quarter, the Oilers continued the game with Ethan Moreau as the captain making a great pass through the opening to Shawn Horcoff settling the score at 4-0. With just five minutes remaining, the Edmonton Oilers was able to transform it into a 5-goal rout. Devan Dubnyk’s concluding bid was spoiled by the San Jose Sharks, at just three minutes remaining, with Ryan Clowe sneaking a puck between the post and the goalie’s skate, concluding at a final score of 5-1. Both teams won’t be playing at least until Tuesday, with the San Jose Sharks bringing to a close their six-game trip in Minnesota and the Edmonton Oilers hosting Vancouver. Some notes The San Jose Sharks were able to win six previous meetings before coming into the game as well as three past matches during the entire season. The Edmonton Oilers are set to arrive at an all-time slump after only taking 51 points into the game during the entire season. So far, the worst season for the Edmonton Oilers had been in 1992 to 1993, with just 26-50-8 for a mere 60 points.
