Online Gambling ban Delay being considered by the US Treasury | IXGAMES
A number of letters sent to the US Department of the Treasury has triggered action to be taken about the impending enforcement of the UIGE A set to take hold on December 1st. Nineteen congressmen – the Poker Players Alliance, the American Greyhound Track Operators Association and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association are behind the letters asking for the delay to be imposed. Only two letters have been sent that insist there be no delay in implementing the UIGEA ban. According to sources – no decision has been made as of yet but time is running short for fans of online gambling as December 1st draws nearer and Thanksgiving preventing further talks from taking place late this week. 
Experts predict that the US gambling market, which currently has a very fuzzy legal status to say the least, attracts 10-15 million gamblers annually, who between them wager $100 billion on a range of internet casino games. (The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was created back in late 2006 by a largely Republican Congress). Representative Barney Frank has been leading the charge to keep the Internet free for people in the US. Frank has introduced legislation that would lay the foundation for regulation of the online gambling industry in the US. A separate piece of legislation would delay the rules of the UIGEA, but Frank has not moved swiftly enough to have that legislation passed before next week. Frank is the Chairman of the House Finance Committee that has been busy for much of the year dealing with the economic recession in the country.
