Online Gaming Company Owner to Serve 14 Years for Murdering Wife | IXGAMES
The head of an online gaming company was charged for 14 years of jail time at the Old Bailey today, after stabbing his wife as she slept in their bedroom, resulting in death. In cold blood 53-year old Mark Campbell knifed his Spanish-born wife in the neck, face, and head where she sustained five wounds. Apparently, she had been planning to leave him after meeting another man. Olga Pleguezuelos was 18 years younger than Campbell, and after obtaining a job in Las Vegas, she met someone else. Upon returning to Britain, she received a text by her new man and not an hour has passed when she was dead inside her flat, at the perimeter of the Harrow school grounds. Campbell was a millionaire once, however massive debts kept him from maintaining that status. He claimed that he was provoked upon hearing the news and he suddenly went out of control, thus stabbing his wife to death. Not sudden at all However, prosecutor Aftab Jafferjee expressed to the jury that the way the murderer attacked the victim cannot be described as sudden or temporary. It was impossible for Campbell to deal with his rejection, and in the end he made a decision that if he can’t have the woman, then no one else will have her. The victim had been sleeping when Campbell started to attack her; however, she woke up and began fighting back. Eventually she fled to the edge of the bedroom but he caught up with her and finished her off in the end. Campbell also tried to hide his real motive by cutting his own neck and wrists, but without really seriously harming himself. It was in October during the previous year that the jury found him guilty of his crime. Judge Anthony Morris imposed a life sentence on Campbell saying that he had been convicted based on “very strong evidence”. The judge also added how it was rare for the courts to not have anyone saying bad words about the victim, but this is just the case. The victim had been considered as a “shining star” that had both physical and inner beauty. The judge also said that Campbell really loved being in the spotlight and that he was a loud person as well. However, when his career when into a nosedive, he became embittered by his wife’s success. Campbell’s marriage in 2008 to Pleguezuelos was his second, but eventually money problems and increasing debts strained the marriage.
