Penguins Claims 6th Straight Win | IXGAMES
In a recent game against St. Louis Blues, the Pittsburgh Penguins were out to show why they are forces to reckon with and what makes them warriors on ice. The Stanley Cup defending champion showed impressive team play, with each player not only trying to score goals but also assisting the other. After a series of run for the goal, the Penguins claimed victory with the final score of 5-1. The five goals came from Evgeni Malkin, Ruslan Fedotenko, Alex Goligoski, Tyler Kennedy, and Matt Cooke who also made an assist. Kris Letang made two assists, along with Sidney Cosby. These were enough to set their NHL best with a record of 8-1. The winning streak seems to be on their side after their sixth consecutive win. Defenseman Jay McKee of Pittsburgh Penguins confirmed that it is team effort that led them to victory. With the other team’s focus mainly on Malkin and Crosby, blocking any efforts from them to make a goal, the team used it to their advantage. Apparently, the team does not only rely on them to hit the scoreboards. Victory is possible through everybody’s contribution, be it an assist or a goal. Meanwhile, Paul Kariya of the St. Louis Blues was able to set a record of 1-3-1 in their past games. It was quite a surprise for them to hit it low only three days after their win at Anaheim, with a score of 5-0. Chris Mason, Blues goalie, do not agree at all they are not prepared to play against the Stanley Cup defending champion. According to him, the win at Anaheim only proved that they can beat even a good team. He added that they had a good second and third period in that game. It seems that the Pittsburgh Penguins had it good. They were able to set a record of 43 shots as the season-high. They controlled much of the game in a match against the St. Louis Blues. The only trouble the team has to face right now is the possible loss of defenseman Sergei Gonchar. This is because of the undisclosed injury that made him miss the final 27 minutes of the game. According to Penguins coach Dan Bylsma, Gonchar will soon be evaluated. As of now, even the coach cannot tell for sure if the veteran player will be able to play. But even without Gonchar, Bylsma hopes to see the same kind of play they have on ice. This is obviously not a good news for the Pittsburgh Penguins, seeing that they had a rough time during the last season, with Gonchar having to skip the first 56 games because of an injured shoulder. This put the team in the 10th place for the Eastern Conference.
