Penn State Plummets into Week 2 Matchup
The Penn State Nittany Lions run the risk of letting their 2012 campaign slip away if they don’t improve upon their Week 1 performance. This Saturday they’ll look for redemption on the college football odds as they brace for a run in with the outside ACC contender Virginia Cavaliers. Given the uncertainty on campus heading into the campaign, even the slightest hiccup could derail Penn State’s already fragile mindset. On top of the lingering implications of the Jerry Sandusky scandal, the mass exodus of transfer players leaving the program, and the ugly death of Joe Paterno, the team now has yet one more hole to dig themselves out of. Quarterback Matt McGloin threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns in the opening week loss to Ohio, but he’ll need more support if the team is to rally against Virginia and reemerge with hope on the college football moneyline. The Cavaliers though, an even tougher opponent that Ohio, have the bonus of momentum on their side after opening their own campaign with a Week 1 win. Although neither factor heavily into the NCAA futures at Bovada, they’re both more than capable of sneaking into the AP’s Top 25 as the season drags on. A big win here would be a blissful distraction for the Nittany Lions, but it’s far from guaranteed. Get your NCAA football odds and BCS futures at Bovada
