Texans LB Cushing Resumes Play on Football Field | IXGAMES
Just recently, Brian Cushing found himself back on the football field, happy to have some sort of diversion from his latest dilemma. Off season practice Cushing, linebacker for the Houston, participated in the first off season team practice for the team, after having spent the last several days going over the positive test results for a drug he took to enhance his performance as an athlete. For the upcoming season he will have to deal with his suspension during the first four games. According to Cushing, the practice gave him something else to think about, and that it was wonderful being with his teammates again. The reaction he got from his teammates had been optimistic. He said that everybody was thrilled to see him and that they all understand the situation he is going through right now. His teammates, he said, are all behind him during this difficult period, and the problem at hand has not affected their camaraderie whatsoever. Support from teammates Even Coach Gary Kubiak was thrilled to see Cushing participate in practice. He said that Cushing came to practice all prepared, knowing exactly what was expected of him. Kubiak understood how difficult a week it has been for Cushing and he was delighted seeing him getting competitive on the field again. Last week Cushing confirmed that the September test results for his alleged use of HCG, a fertility drug banned by the league, had been positive. Cushing however maintains the he never took any banned substance and is confounded with the positive test results. Most of this fans and media people were not convinced of his reasoning as to the drug test, but Cushing says those reactions are not among his top concerns as of this point. Cushing said that he does not pay any attention to the reaction of his fans or those of the press. After giving full explanation on the issue and after having gotten everything out of his chest, he no longer feels like he still has anything to apologize for. He believes that the truth will prevail and people can think whatever they want to at this point. Feeling optimistic Last season, Cushing’s 133 tackles for the Texans led him to become the Defensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press. He was able to retain the title even with his suspension after a revote was done the previous week. Cushing maintains that there is no further need for him to prove himself even after his suspension. He is optimistic with his performance once he returns to play during the next season. He does not believe furthermore that anything is limiting him, and that his goals towards working better for the team are out there and up for grabs. Although Cushing is allowed take part of activities and practices off-season, the Texans will be starting the season without their side linebacker. Danny Clark will act as replacement for Cushing and had already been signed in with the team starting the previous week. Clark however is optimistic that he will be playing with the team beyond the time limit of four games, looking forward to an entire year and hopefully well into the play offs and Super bowl.
