The King and All The King's Men | IXGAMES
LeBron James, also known as The King, is expected by many to become the best basketball player of all time. After only six seasons in the NBA, The King has accumulated numerous accolades, including the Rookie of the Year Award, five NBA All-Star appearances, two NBA All-Star Game MVP awards, one NBA All-Defensive First Team appearance, the 2008 Scoring Champion, and the highly-coveted NBA Most Valuable Player Award (2009). Still, the league’s most prized trophy, the NBA Championship Title, continues to elude The King to this day. After falling short and losing to the Orlando Magic in a 4-2 series during the 2009 NBA Eastern Conference Finals, LeBron’s hopes of winning an NBA Title were crushed once again. For the upcoming 2009-2010 season, however, the Cleveland Cavaliers have made some big moves to acquire some players who can definitely help lift LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise to their first championship. Let’s take a look at what is in store for the Cleveland Cavaliers 2009-2010 roster, now that the season is just about to start. Transactions made by the Cleveland Cavs in the off-season The biggest news in Cleveland Cavaliers trades this off-season came on June 25, 2009. It was on that date that the Cavs traded Ben Wallace, Aleksander Pavlovic, $500,000 cash, and future conditional second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns in return for Shaquille O’Neal. Lauded as the most dominant player in NBA history, O’Neal is a veteran who brings to the Cavaliers experience, talent, and an unbelievable resume that includes four NBA Championship Titles, one NBA MVP title, 15 All-Star appearances, two NBA Scoring Champion Titles, and three NBA Finals MVP Awards. The question is: what happens when you put The King and the most dominant player in the world together on one team? Other big changes made by the Cavs Aside from acquiring The Big Diesel, Shaq, the Cavs also made a few other moves that definitely look good on paper. The team signed two forwards, Leon Powe and Jamario Moon, who are known for intense play. Hopefully these two will be able to keep up with the pace of The King. Former Toronto Raptors wingman Anthony Parker has also been acquired by the Cavs. The core of the Cleveland Cavs Despite all of these big changes that the Cavs have made, it’s good to see that they have still held on to a core of players who can help in cultivating team chemistry with the new Cavs players. This core consists of guard Mo Williams, forward/center Varejao Anderson, center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, and at forward, The King himself, LeBron James. Daniel Gibson, one of Cavaliers fan-favorites, is also still on the roster for the 2009-2010 season.
