Tigers, White Sox Clash in AL Central Gem | IXGAMES
Locked in a gridlock for much of the 2012 season, the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox will meet yet again with AL Central playoff implications on the line. Early MLB odds give the Tigers the slight advantage in the set, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s the White Sox in the driver’s seat. Despite Chicago’s superior record, in 14 head-to-head games so far this season, the Tigers have come out on top winning 10. That success has played a major role in Detroit’s earning 10/1 odds of winning the World Series on Bovada’s MLB futures. The White Sox in comparison, despite their slight lead over the Tigers, have just 15/1 odds. Considering that Jim Leyland’s crew is coming off a 2011 postseason run, it’s not hard to imagine that the Tigers will have what it takes to secure the final berth. But don’t rule out Chicago just yet. With a balanced attack led by half a dozen capable power hitters, from the young Dayan Viciedo to trade acquisition Kevin Youkilis, from franchise icon Paul Konerko to the reinspired slugger Adam Dunn, they’re a hard team to predict. MLB oddsmakers know that. Considering the depth of the American League and that a wild card berth may be even harder to land than an AL Central title, the race for the division is all the more meaningful.
