Timothy Timotheau Wins First Prize in European Masters of Poker Lisbon | IXGAMES

Timothy Timotheau barely survived day 1a with only 5,300 in chips.  Despite being the short stack early in the game, he was able to beat 393 other players to come home as the winner of the European Masters of Poker Lisbon.  Victory is sweet for Timotheau as he claimed the top spot and got the highest payout in the final table, amounting to EUR86,680. Last January, in European Masters of Poker Gran Canaria, it was Maciej Lipny who made it to the final table and became the event’s champion, taking home EUR66,240.  He had to beat 288 poker players in the field at the Casino Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. The final table After three days in the game, the ones to come face to face in the final are Timothy Timotheau and Povilas Purtokas, a contender from Lithuania.  With six hands heads-up, Purtokas completed the blinds and Timotheau checked.  When the flow came K-7-4 rainbow, both Purtokas and Timotheau checked. The turn saw a jack, and Timotheau made a bet of 140,000.  Purtokas was hopeful and went all in, while Timotheau called.  It appeared the Timotheau had a stronger hand with a K-9, while Purtokas had T-T.  Purtokas probably wished for a ten, but the river turned out to be a four.  With this, Timotheau was declared the winner in the main event of the European Masters of Poker Lisbon. The payouts The next big winner in the poker event is Povilas Purtokas from Lithuania with EUR53,190.  Henrik Torsteenson went home with EUR34,672, while Diogo Borges won EUR22,064.  Claiming the fifth spot, Paul Lucey earned as much as EUR17,336.  For the final table payouts, Joao Candeias won  EUR13,396 and Mikael Tholander, the seventh placer, earned EUR11,820.  Mariusz Beranden and Pyry Oksanen came close to Tholander’s cash winnings with EUR10,244 and EUR8,668, respectively. The EMOP event at Lisbon The EMOP event, where Timotheau won first prize, was held at Casino Estoril in Lisbon, Portugal, which is the third stop, following the season II of the tour.  It took place from March 25 to March 28, 2010. It was attended by some of the biggest names in the poker circuit.  This included former European Poker Tour and European Masters of Poker winners.  The biggest names in the crowd are Anton Wigg, Joao Barbosa, Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott, Per Hildebrand, Johan Storakers, and Lars Kjestrup.  Attended by some of the most competitive poker players and legends, the event itself is declared a success.
