Great Britain is a gambling mad country with the regulatory body for casino, bingo, gaming machines and lotteries in Great Britain, the Gambling Commission, has just announced that the numbers of people going online to place a bet in the UK is on the rise. A recent survey carried out last month by the TGC (The Gambling Commission) found that 8.6 percent of UK adults had taken part in at least one form of online gambling during the previous month, up from 7.4 percent last year. The National UK Lottery remains the most popular form of remote gambling followed closely by online poker with casino and bingo close behind. It was the first time that Poker has overtaken Casino in the ranking which also backs up past surveys which stated that poker will overtake casino traffic in 2007 with the par only expected to increase. Its research discovered that, in the four quarters to June, 6.7 percent of adults admitted to gambling via a computer, laptop or handheld advice over the previous month, up from the 5.2 percent in last year’s survey. Mobile gaming is on the rise with almost three per cent of adults stating that they had used their handset as a gambling tool at least once in the month before the survey. To round off a general rise, gambling via interactive or digital television also increased during the period from 1.7 percent to 1.8 percent. The Gambling Commission said online gamblers are most likely to be males between the ages of 18 and 34.
