We’re Down to the NHL’s Final Four | IXGAMES
So who will hoist the Stanley Cup this season? We have two Original Six teams left among the four conference finalists of San Jose, Chicago, Philadelphia and Montreal. And Bodog has it all covered with numerous hockey odds and props. Will the eighth-seeded Montreal Canadiens continue their shocking run through the postseason and bring the Cup back to Canada, a country that is still celebrating that Olympic hockey gold medal? No Canadian team has won the Cup since the Habs did back in 1993 – and that was the last time Montreal even reached a conference final. Goalie Jaroslav Halak already has had one of the great postseasons ever in leading upsets of the Washington Capitals (best team in regular season) and Pittsburgh Penguins (defending Stanley Cup champions) and will become a national legend if he can lead the Canadiens to eight more wins. Montreal remains the biggest underdog of the final four teams on Bodog’s odds to win the Stanley Cup. The Philadelphia Flyers became the third NHL team ever and fourth in American major pro sports history to rally from a 3-0 series hole just to reach the East Finals. They haven’t won the Cup since the Broad Street Bullies won their last one in 1975. Can goalie Michael Leighton carry the team to a title in place of injured starter goalie Brian Boucher? Philly didn’t even clinch a playoff spot until the final day of the regular season. The San Jose Sharks have long been playoff underachievers and have never reached the Stanley Cup Finals. But they blew out the Detroit Red Wings and have the most regular-season points of any team remaining. And then there are the Chicago Blackhawks, who have the longest Cup drought of any Original Six team as the Hawks haven’t hoisted the Cup since 1961. They couldn’t get past the West Finals last year but stole home-ice advantage from San Jose with a victory in Game 1. The young Blackhawks could be on the verge of a mini-dynasty with stars like Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp, Marian Hossa and Duncan Keith. They are currently the 11/10 favorites on Bodog’s NHL odds to win the Cup.
