WSOP Final Table: Who Will Take the Title Tonight | IXGAMES
If you haven’t been tuning in to the ESPN coverage of the World Series of Poker, then you missed some tough competition this weekend. At the final table, players began their day at 12pm on Saturday at the Penn and Teller Theater, and didn’t stop until 15 hours later! During the early hours of the competition, players found themselves awaiting a big hand that would pull one player again in the competition, however, the excitement did not pick up until James Akenhead went all in against Eric Buchman, and won with his King/Queen hand and the excitement continued until player Kevin Schaffel (sponsored by Poker Stars) was eliminated from the competition, falling into 8th place after his pocket 3’s couldn’t take Jeff Schulman’s 9’s After Schaffel left the competition, the pace of play slowed down, although many in the crowd continued to cheer for favourite Phil Ivey who after a few more hours of play was eliminated when going all in against Darvin Moon and finding that his hand just wasn’t going to stand up to the competition. Only a few minutes later, the pace of gameplay was seeming to pick up, and Darvin Moon eliminated the 6th place finisher Steve Begleiter. Following this elimination, play appeared to slow down again, with players at the table already playing for more than 12 hours. Gameplay continued for about 15 flops before one playing vegan to move towards taking the lead again. When four-handed play began, Moon started off with a new strategy; playing all in on almost every hand while his competition was more conservative with their chips. Buchman was finally eliminated, and the final three players continued on until Antonie Saout made his exit. Final tableists Moon and Cada will face off again at 10pm PST Monday night in heads up play. Through Cada still has a substantial lead over Moon with 136,925,000 chips to Moon’s 58,875,000.
