Yankees-Red Sox on MLB Network | IXGAMES
No point in making fans wait for the biggest rivalry in baseball. The New York Yankees host the Boston Red Sox Friday night (7:05 PM ET, MLBN) in the first of a three-game series; Wade Miley is scheduled to take the mound for Boston, with Nathan Eovaldi doing the same for New York. Miley (3.98 FIP in 2014) was a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2011, before arriving in Boston last December in exchange for pitchers Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster and infielder Raymel Flores. In 2014, Miley was 5.22 units in the red on a team record of 14-19, but Arizona was only No. 24 in the majors in hitting at .678 OPS. The Red Sox were No. 22 at .684 OPS; they’ve since added Hanley Ramirez (.817 OPS with the LA Dodgers) and Pablo Sandoval (.739 OPS with the San Francisco Giants). Eovaldi (3.37 FIP), another December arrival as part of the David Phelps trade, looks like a better pick-up for New York. He was second worst on the MLB money charts at minus-13.53 units on a team record of 10-23, but Miami scored two runs or fewer in 16 of those 33 starts.
