Mike McDonald having just won $1.4 million in a poker tournament in Germany - making him the youngest poker player ever to win a European Poker Tour event. The young pro – who is still sporting braces and hasn’t finished his post-secondary schooling yet – has parlayed countless hours of playing poker online into two major payouts. He won $20,000 after finishing fourth at a tournament in Prague - but it’s his latest victory that has elevated his poker career to a new level. Along with his cash prize comes an invitation to compete at Europe’s biggest poker tournament in Monte Carlo in April, where he’ll have a chance to win an even larger jackpot. 
He said everything seemed to go his way in the German tournament, in which he ended up with three kings in his final hand. *McDonald learned poker after a chess teacher told him he could make good money by playing games online*. McDonald made about $10,000 or $12,000 in his year of online play and said he went on to win hundreds of thousands more in the following months. (He said he plans to invest his winnings).
