QB, Eagles Have Talks of Possible Trade, According to McNabb Agent
Agent of quarterback Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles is weighing on trade plans, as rumors persist about the subject matter. No imminent trade yet However, no trade seems to be sure yet, and this is what Fletcher Smith has revealed to the Philadelphia Daily News. Also, McNabb has not had any agreements or present talks with the Eagles on the kind of teams he would to choose to be a part of during a trade. Smith considered that they will have to cross the bridge once they get there, and as of the present no decision has been made yet. Also, Smith has added that he is convinced no conversation has passed between his client and Andy Reid, coach for the Eagles. Current assessment Smith’s deliberation on the present situation coincides with Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, during their Friday report. In the report, an insider source from the league has been quoted as saying that there is no deal likely to take place within a period of three or four days. The report has also included how Joe Banner, Eagles president is currently in Florida while Reid is in Utah. McNabb is already well into the last year of his contract. He also holds the right of refusing any extension to the contract, and has, as a matter of fact, insisted that it is very likely that he will be staying with the Eagles. Nonetheless he has given answers on rumors of the trade, stating that in the event the team decides to move him, the move should be done in a swift manner. The Philadelphia Inquirer has sources which point to McNabb’s preference for the Minnesota Vikings in the event of a trade. However even Brett Favre’s prospect is not yet final in Minnesota, this has lead coach Brad Childress to consider the interest of the Vikings’ on McNabb as not yet final. Childress revealed to the Star Tribune that the team has not positioned itself yet to add another quarter back or even two quarter backs but that they are not closing any doors yet. This may depend on which quarterback is able to perform and which has shown up, but nothing is really final as of the moment. High draft pick In the event that McNabb will be traded, any team who includes him in their roster will have to do away with a high draft pick. One source close to the discussions swirling around McNabb’s possible trade has revealed to The Associated Press that the Eagles has some conditions laid out should a deal be made with the Pro Bowl quarterback. The condition is that a deal is possible only when it includes a pick within the top 42 in the NFL draft for the following month. Some considerations Reid admitted Wednesday that he was considering offers not only for McNabb but for Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick as well. This came after talks of McNabb’s return have been around for months. The St. Louis Rams have denied any interest on Thursday, and among those considering on taking McNabb, the Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills are among the most interested.
