Poker Players Alliance Calling all Online Gamblers
The Pokers Players Alliance is urging all members to call your Representative in support of HR 2046 which is the Internet Gambling Regulation & amp; Enforcement Act 2007 that was introduced by Representative Barney Frank. The PPA blasted emails to almost $500,000 members asking people to take action and tell your Rep “You are a constituent and voter in the district and that you support HR 2046 to protect your rights to play poker online. Ask your Representative to attend the hearing on Friday, learn more about the issue, and support and cosponsor HR 2046.” You can call 202-225-3121. The Poker Players Alliance id designed to protect Americans rights to play poker online. Former Senator Alfonse D’Amato is the chairman and leader in the fight for poker. In other online gambling news, like we reported several weeks ago, Representative Bob Wexler of Florida will introduce a bill on Thursday that will carve out exemptions for online poker, mahjong and other games of skill. Friday the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services will hold a hearing on internet gambling. The hearing topic will be referenced as “Can Internet Gambling Be Effectively Regulated to Protect Consumers and the Payments System?” The hearing is by invitation only at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2007. The biggest benefit of this hearing will get more people discussing internet gambling. The UIGEA was attached to an important Port Security Bill at the eleventh hour and passed without debate. Americans should have the right to debate any freedom that one experiences in the privacy of their own home before it’s taken away and the online gambling industry will finally have a voice and it’s just getting started.
