Poker club robbed – manager arrested

The manager of a Manhattan card room was arrested after gunmen robbed an allegedly illegal poker parlor that has attracted its share of celebrity players. The New York Daily News said the thieves got away with about $50,000 from the poker den at The National CardRoom on the Upper East Side. The newspaper said the establishment has attracted the likes of the New York Yankees` Alex Rodriguez and Rober Iler, who played Anthony Jr. on ‘The Sopranos.’ Betting at card rooms is legal in New York, but the establishments aren`t allowed to take a cut of the action. Club manager Edgar Concepcion was arrested on charges of promoting gambling and possession of bookmaking supplies.
