UltimateBet is one of those online poker providers that recently started a bad beat jackpot on their site, and this week -Â the jackpot of $112,885.50 was hit. The player who won the most of that money was the player that lost the hand, that player held quad jacks, and lost to a straight flush, meaning the quad jack player won $36,678.03. The player with the straight flush won the pot, and, $18,339.01, not a bad hand. The rest of the players at the table won $1,000 each, and, in a twist on normal bad beat jackpots, the website also paid out $18,000 for the other 337 players who were online playing at that price level to split evenly. 
Online poker rooms are usually filled at certain times when the bad beat jackpot gets above a certain number, usually $100,000. The bad beat criteria for winning changes from casino to casino, but Ultimate Bet requires that a player holds quad eights or better and loses the hand.
