Is Tom Brady Really Back?

Having lead the New England Patriots to three Super Bowl victories in past seasons, Tom Brady has become somewhat of a football hero, even bridging the gap between sports superstar and celebrity. Despite the wedding and baby rumors that have been circulating about Brady and his model spouse, what really propelled him into the headlines last year was the devastating knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for most of last season. This year, Brady’s back and ready to prove that last season is staying in the past where it belongs, because he’s ready to lead his team to victory once again. Although the official start of the football season will determine if Brady’s really going to bring it this season, but he’s off to a good start. In a preseason win against Philadelphia Eagles Brady through a pair of touchdown passes which lead him to make a classic mission statement like he has been known for all along, stating “It’s a real small step for this whole team on a very long journey,” and making fans think that the all-star football player might really be back in full force. That being said, some still can’t help but wonder if everything he’s been through in the past year might have shifted his focus away from a football victory. In addition to the knee injury and marriage to super model Giselle Bundchen, he’s had surgery which lead to a staph infection, been on the receiving end of unconfirmed rumors that he’s having another child, and he’s made a cameo appearance on the HBO show Entourage. So, with his focus away from football over the past year it remains to be seen if that will show when he’s on the field or if he’ll be more determined than ever to prove that he’s returning stronger than ever to lead his team to another win. Based on statements Brady’s made lately, he’s not focusing upon his injury and won’t be trying to blame it on any bad plays that occur during the season. He’s attended all training camp and practice sessions, and he believes it’s time to move forward from it all once and for all, and time for the fans to do it too. The best judge, however, will of course be to see how he plays this season, and if he manages to take the Patriots to the Super Bowl, then all of the rumors should be laid to rest once and for all.
