NBA: Boston Celtics Off to an Impressive Start

The Boston Celtics franchise has one of the most impressive track records in the National Basketball Association.  With 17 NBA Championship Titles, the most recent of which was in 2008, the Celtics definitely have a lot to be proud about.  During the 2008-2009 season, many Celtics and NBA fans in general thought that the team would win another championship title, but one of their star players, Kevin Garnett, suffered an injury that sat him out for the entire post-season stint and the team wasn’t able to pull it together for a repeat. Now that the 2009-2010 season is in full-swing the Celtics have another great chance at their 18th NBA Championship Title.  Kevin Garnett has fully-recovered from his injury and the franchise has made some key acquisitions that will definitely help them throughout the regular season and into the Playoffs, should they make it there.  Read on to learn more about the Celtics’ impressive start that has them sitting at the top of the Eastern Division. The Celtics’ 5-0 Start The 2009-2010 NBA season started off with a battle of the titans when the Celtics visited LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers for the league opening game on October 27th.  Paul Pierce scored 23 points and pulled-down 11 rebounds while Rondo had 10 assists to help the Celtics to a 95-89 victory over the Cavs.  In their next game versus the Charlotte Bobcats, the Celtics dominated with a 92-59 win at home.  Next on the schedule was the match against the visiting Chicago Bulls, who gave the Celtics a hard time during the 2009 Playoffs.  This time around, however, the Celtics would make a strong statement, beating the Bulls by 28 points for a 118-90 victory with Paul Pierce and Eddie House scoring 22 points a piece.  For their third straight home game, the Celtics faced the New Orleans Hornets and their star guard Chris Paul.  Once again, Paul Pierce led the way to victory with 27 points for a 97-87 win over the Hornets.  In their fifth game for the season, the Celtics flew over to Philadelphia to face the 76ers.  Unfortunately for the 76ers, the Celtics would continue their onslaught, scoring 105 points and holding the 76ers down to 74 points for a road victory. The next five games for the Celtics With an impressive 5-0 start, the Celtics look to be firing on all cylinders.  For the Celtics’ next five games, they will be visiting Minnesota Timberwolves and New Jersey Nets, while they have home games against the Phoenix Suns, the Utah Jazz, and the Atlanta Hawks.  So far, it seems like the Phoenix Suns will pose the only threat to the Celtics’ flawless record.  The Suns are also undefeated at 4-0, so the battle will definitely be on for that match.  Still, a lot can happen throughout the course of the season, so we’ll have to stay tuned to see if the Celtics can stay healthy and continue playing well to get another shot at the championship title.
