Dodgers See MLB Odds Climb As Ramirez, Victorino Settle in L.A.

A week after trading for Miami Marlins third baseman Hanley Ramirez, the Los Angeles Dodgers pulled the trigger on deadline day deal that landed them outfielder Shane Victorino from the underachieving Philadelphia Phillies. Suffice to say, the influx of star power to the already dangerous Dodgers has made L.A. one of the teams to watch on the MLB odds in August and September. Currently in the midst of a heated National League West race, the Dodgers will need all the help they can get if they’re to beat out their rivals San Francisco Giants down the stretch. With the NL wild card race looking perhaps even more competitive than their division race, the club has opted to not take any chances. Not only do Victorino and Ramirez add big names to the L.A. franchise coming off a down year in 2011, but they bump the club up the MLB futures as well. Expect the Dodgers’ odds of winning the World Series to climb even higher if Victorino and Ramirez transition smoothly to the West Coast. This week, Los Angeles will get a chance to flex their muscle against a less than inspiring Colorado Rockies club. It may not be a blockbuster match up on its own merit, but the opportunity to get an early look at what could be the 2012 World Series champion is hard for the MLB betting community to ignore.
