Texas Rangers Host Detroit Tigers: AL Juggernauts Clash

There will be no shortage of firepower on display when the Texas Rangers play host to the Detroit Tigers in a three-game set this weekend, but more than a simple clash of American League stars, the series marks an opportunity for the division leaders to stake out supremacy on the MLB odds. While the Rangers sit comfortably in the AL West, the Tigers are still neck and neck with a Chicago White Sox club equally capable of making noise on the MLB moneyline in the final months of the regular season. If Miguel Cabrera and offseason acquisition Prince Fielder are to follow through on the lofty expectations that fans and critics set for the franchise last offseason, they’ll have to prove an ability to contend with the league’s elite. In five matchups with the Rangers this season, the Tigers have lost four of them. Such a Texas advantage isn’t hard to understand considering where the Rangers have sat on the MLB futures for much of the season. With some of the best odds to win the World Series in baseball, the only team that can stand between the Rangers and a third consecutive playoff berth is themselves.
