NFL Odds: Backup QB Tebow The Key To Jets Fate

The New York Jets may not top the NFL odds in terms of expected production on the field this preseason, but they do have the most popular backup quarterback in the league. If nothing else, the addition of Tim Tebow alone keeps this franchise relevant on a national level while they struggle for success. Entering his fourth year out of USC, returning starter Mark Sanchez will not only face the mounting pressure that years of mediocrity in America’s largest market brings, but now the constant threat of losing his job to the NFL’s poster boy. What’s worse, given the intangible benefits Tebow seemed to bring to his Denver Broncos last season, there’s reason to believe that yes, even despite his notorious throwing woes, Tebow would improve the Jets’ odds of winning the Super Bowl. He’s not just a pretty face. So much of a threat is Tebow, in fact, that Bovada’s NFL props give him 100/1 odds of winning the NFL MVP. Sanchez, or any other Jet for that matter, is nowhere to be seen on the list. With an environment unlike any we’ve seen in recent years, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Given the mere peanuts the franchise spent to acquire the QB, the transaction has essentially payed for itself already in publicity alone. Get your NFL odds and Super Bowl futures
